Home Student Life Spiritual Life
Although students come to Australian Baptist College to receive an education and to be trained in a local church setting, college life is not only about study and ministry. The Christian life is enjoyed most when we have balance. Australian Baptist College has designed a schedule that allows time for fun and fellowship. We have a purpose-built Life Centre for fellowship and recreation as well as a volley ball court, basketball court, cricket oval and table tennis all on campus.

Evening hours you may find a group enjoying coffee, playing table tennis or board games in our student Life Centre, or having a quiet time of fellowship in the Gatheria.

Text Box: PhotoLighthouse Baptist Church also has a vibrant Young Adults and Singles ministry. There are regular outings and events in and around Rockhampton and the Capricorn Coast. We believe that you will find a "home-style" atmosphere to our campus that you will enjoy throughout your college career.

In addition to this, Lighthouse Baptist Church has a full calendar of events taking place throughout the year, including Christian movie nights in our Life Centre, Family Fun activities (for the whole church family), a men & boys camp, mother & daughter banquet, prayer breakfasts, and much more.

For the student at Australian Baptist College, the college experience depends upon the spiritual condition of the heart. “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you”, Matthew 6:33. Australian Baptist College does not exist only to train the mind or the body, but to touch the heart. All church services are mandatory because it is our belief that the most important classroom is the church auditorium. Every class period begins with prayer.

Students are challenged and asked regularly about their Bible reading and prayer life. All students are required to take part in a ministry on the weekends in the local church and each student is placed into a soul winning group so that the student is being developed and trained in the area of evangelism and discipleship on a weekly basis.

An open-door policy is maintained by all members of the Administration, and students are encouraged to seek out help with the spiritual battles that they face. The Christian life is taught, modelled, and mentored through the dedicated staff and faculty of both Lighthouse Baptist Church and Australian Baptist College on a daily basis.

At Australian Baptist College, we understand that God has chosen the local church to be His instrument for reaching this world. Our students are taught not only to study the ministry during the week, but also to be involved in the ministry during the weekend. Our students help in Sunday school classes, retirement homes, weekly soul winning opportunities, and much more. Our goal is to develop Christian leaders who know the importance of serving.

While attending Australian Baptist College, students will be exposed to the multi-faceted ministry of Lighthouse Baptist Church. Each student will be involved minimally in three hours of Christian service each week. If a student is travelling to another church for Christian service and ministry, a letter from the pastor must be given to the Principal’s office explaining his ministry responsibilities. The training received from real ministry experience is worth the price of an education in itself. Upon graduation, we believe our graduates will be able to step into the void of servant leaders and help claim a generation for Christ.

The pulpit of Lighthouse Baptist Church is the most important teaching lectern in the college and the church services are the most important classroom on campus. Soul-stirring music and powerful Bible preaching are a combination that God uses over and over in our students’ lives.

The church services allow students not only to be challenged personally, but also to see a vibrant, growing, and caring church family that is dedicated to the ministry of reaching people for Jesus Christ. Members of Lighthouse Baptist Church go out of their way to pray for and encourage our students in every way.

There are many exciting music opportunities that are available to the students of Australian Baptist College. These range from specials in the church service, our orchestra, ensemble and Easter and Christmas concerts, to weddings and special events such as our annual missions and youth conferences .

It is our goal to train and equip young people who truly have a heart for God and a desire to develop their musical skills for future ministry. If growth in this area is what you desire, prayerfully consider Australian Baptist College

Australian Baptist College recognises the labour of love which each home church and pastor has displayed toward any student recommended to Australian Baptist College. Therefore, we will promote loyalty to the home church and pastor at all times. A student who withdraws from college will be encouraged to return to his home church, unless he is gainfully employed and is planning to return to school the very next semester under the counsel of his home pastor. Furthermore, students will be encouraged to spend the Christmas holiday period at home. This will provide the students the opportunity to be with their families, to serve in the ministries of their home churches, and to save financially for the upcoming school year.

Australian Baptist College recognises the privilege of continuing the education of students and individuals who have been raised in godly homes. It is the goal of Australian Baptist College to support the counsel of godly parents in the lives of their children. It is the single student’s responsibility to stay accountable to his parents regarding his spiritual, academic, and financial status as a student. Australian Baptist College will contact parents in the event of any physical or spiritual problem in the life of their child.
